Badger Privacy Policy

Protecting Trust. Empowering the Digital Future.

1. Overview

Badger is a Cybersecurity and Device Optimization platform.

Our purpose is to restore confidence in the digital economy by giving people (individuals and Businesses) intelligence about their happenings on their devices and ultimately provide protection, and control over their digital lives.

The Badger mobile application ("Badger," "the App," "we," "us," or "our") is one expression of that purpose: it gives you clear insight into how your data is being consumed, what is running in the background on your device, and how your usage patterns evolve over time. Because privacy intelligence is central to what we do, we hold ourselves to a high standard in how we handle your data while helping you understand your own.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Badger collects, how we use it, how we store and protect it, and the rights and choices available to you. It applies to all Badger users, with specific protections for users in Nigeria under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 ("NDPA") and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation.

By creating a Badger account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

  • Account information: your email address and phone number, provided at sign-up.
  • Verification information: the confirmation code sent to your email and/or phone number, used to verify you own that contact detail.
  • Any other information you voluntarily provide, such as support requests or feedback.

2.2 Information We Collect Automatically From Your Device

To deliver Badger's core intelligence — a full, balanced picture of your data usage — the App reads certain system-level information from your iOS or Android device, including:

  • Network and data usage statistics: how much mobile data and Wi-Fi data each app on your device consumes, over time.
  • Background activity information: which apps and processes are active or consuming resources in the background, and when.
  • Device and app metadata: device type, OS version, and the names of installed apps associated with usage data, needed to correctly attribute and display statistics to you.

Badger only accesses the permissions iOS and Android make available for this purpose, and only once you've granted them during setup. You can review or revoke these permissions any time in your device settings — doing so will limit Badger's ability to give you accurate insights.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

Badger does not read the content of your messages, photos, browsing history, or what you send or receive within other apps. We collect usage intelligence, how much data, when, and by which app — not the substance of your communications.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purpose:

  • Create, secure, and maintain your Badger account, and verify your identity via email/phone confirmation.
  • Show you how much data each app on your device is using, and surface background activity that may be draining data unexpectedly.
  • Generate personalized insights and usage-pattern intelligence over time.
  • Provide, maintain, and continuously improve the App's features, performance, and security.
  • Communicate with you about your account, product updates, or support requests.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats — consistent with our broader work in threat analytics and digital trust.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use your usage data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties. Protecting trust is our core value, and we apply it to our own handling of your data, not just the intelligence we give you about others.

4. Where Your Information Is Stored

Badger stores information in two places:

  • On your device: certain usage data is processed and cached locally so the App can show real-time statistics even when offline.
  • On our servers (backend): your account information, and usage data needed to generate cross-session insights, trends, and to power your subscription, are stored on secure backend infrastructure.

We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration — in line with our identity as a security-first company. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstance:

  • Service providers: vendors who help us operate Badger (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processing, SMS/email verification), bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements: where required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Badger, our users, or others.
  • With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right regarding your personal data, including the right to:

  • Access your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate data or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent for data processing (which may limit App functionality).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Request data portability, where applicable.

Users in Nigeria: under the NDPA, you have the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, and the right to data portability. Contact us using the details in Section 11 to exercise these rights.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and usage data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Children's Privacy

Badger is not intended for use by children or minors under the age of 16 or under the minimum age required by the law without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate authorization. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

Badger may process and store data on servers located in different countries. Where international transfers occurs, we implement appropriate safeguards to ensure data protection. Consistent with privacy policy and all applicable laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Badger's technologies and services evolve. We will notify you of material changes through the App or other reasonable means, and update the "Last Updated" date above.

Continued use of Badger after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
